About Me

I’m Brent Sowers, a software engineer from the Washington DC area of the United States, who likes taking awesome vacations with my wife and teenage son. I decided to create this site in 2025 after coming back from an awesome vacation to Central Europe that I spent a TON of time planning throughout the year. You can read all about those trips in Five Awesome Days in Prague, Five Awesome Days In Salzburg, Austria, and Four Awesome Days In Grindelwald, Switzerland! I figured that my hard work planning, and our experiences, could help others plan your awesome vacations, so I decided to create this site and share my experiences!

I might add more future vacations here, but for now it’s just posts from our Europe trip.

Check out the social media links at the top – that’s the best way to get in touch with me.

If you are interested in the technical details of how I set this blog up for (almost) free with WordPress – I have a VERY detailed explanation of how I did this at my programming blog https://www.brentsowers.com/2025/08/setting-up-self-hosted-wordpress-blog.html. This is very technical and is only for people who know AWS, and want to host a WordPress site like this one.

For more links to me personally, unrelated to travel – you can check out my sites https://www.brentsowers.com which has mostly programming blog posts I’ve done over the years, and https://www.coordinatecommons.com which has some other links for me, and some various side projects I’ve done over the years.
